When I was on a school trip to France in year 12 everybody took a lot of photos, naturally, and would often get those little circles in the photo that happen when light reflects off dust etc in just such a way.
For some reason the general consensus among my travelling buddies was that the circles or “orbs” were actually ghosts or spirits, trying to communicate through the medium of photography.
When I said I was pretty sure it was just dust, they all started saying something along the lines of “just because you’re a Christian doesn’t mean you can force your beliefs on us, Melissa.”

You’re right. Those little circles are caused by the blurring of light.
When out of focus dust particles reflect light onto the sensor you get those little circles. It’s called Bokeh.
